Introduction
We take a look at the three term controller starting with on-off control; its advantages and disadvantages gradually building to proportional, proportional plus integral and then proportional plus integral plus derivative.
We then take a look at the more complex types of control such as cascade, ratio and split range control. This section concludes with an in depth look at the subject of controller tuning and the delegate is presented with a step by step guide to producing a satisfactorily tuned controller. The course takes an in depth look at block diagrams of control systems and then introduces the differences between analogue and digital control loops. This section also includes topics such as the low/high selector, trips and alarms and interlocks and bypasses.
