Accidents can occur especially when equipment is being serviced, maintained, adjusted or cleaned. Therefore this makes isolating operating equipment a dangerous task. If isolation is not carried out correctly or the wrong isolation procedures are followed then serious harm could ensue.

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) is a procedure which is used in industry and research settings to ensure that dangerous machines are properly shut off and not started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or servicing work.

Lockout/Tagout is a safety procedure which makes isolating operating safe. If you work as part of a maintenance team then you will find this Lockout/Tagout e-learning course a valuable tool. Those working in plants, factories, workshops or anywhere which involves machinery will also find it very useful.
