Profile

Mike has considerable experience in Education and Training. He served his apprenticeship in the Chemical Industry at ICI on Teeside in Electrical & Instrumentation. Before entering teaching he worked as Instrument Commissioning Engineering on Gas Plant. During his initial spell in teaching he taught instrumentation, electronics and other associated subjects as well as being senior City & Guilds examiner. 

He has considerable experience in delivering Instrumentation/Control training and associated subjects within the Oil and Gas Industry. He has delivered and managed training in Brunei, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria as well as in the UK. Mike was also for many years in writing and tutoring open learning material in Instrumentation and Control theory as well as acting as an Open University Tutor.

He is a registered UK Government Inspector for Engineering with over 10 years experience and regularly is invited into Colleges and Training establishments, as a consultant, to advise them on improving the quality of their provision and Management.

He still enjoys writing and delivering training Modules and currently is involved in delivering training to Training/Teaching staff on how to improve the impact of their training. Recently he was involved in producing resource material for the Standards Unit and for the recent National Teaching and Learning change programme in Engineering. Both are now used extensively by UK colleges and Training Providers.
