Process Control Methods Course - Call us on +44 (0) 1443 223544 or Contact Us - 5 Days

These courses are designed for delivery to organisations (worldwide).

Introduction

The amount of financial loss due to poorly tuned control loops is said to be vast and represents a massive loss to the industry. This course sets out to allay those losses by providing the participant with the reasoning behind the theory and giving him/her a standard procedure for tuning each type of loop.

A section of this also provides details to the delegate on environmental requirements which govern our practices for the foreseeable future. We develop control of the four main process variable after which we take an analytical look at complex control systems such as ratio control, and cascade control.

Objectives

1) Specify a controller action for various situations.
2) Describe the need for feedback control and explain it imposition.
3) Describe open and closed loop methods of controller tuning
4) Calculate steady state gain for a single loop controller
5) Describe dynamic gains for a single loop controller.
6) Describe the gain and phase of dead-time.
7) Implement control loops for each type of controller; P, P+I and P+I+D
8) Describe the limits for each type of control.
9) Describe the tuning of a cascade control loop.
10) Describe feedforward control

and many more.

Who is the course for?

All those employed on a process plant that are familiar with general day to day operations and maintenance of plant equipment. Specifically, instrument and electrical technicians, field and control room operations personnel and supervisors and managers with a “need to know”. Further, the course may be of value to engineering staff and others with a requirement to update their knowledge or fill in gaps.
