Process Control Valves Training Course - Call us on +44 (0) 1443 223544 or Contact Us - 5 Days
 |
These courses are designed for delivery to organisations (worldwide). |
Introduction
The course looks at the various types of valves, the mechanism used to drive the valve and the categories of each valve. The valve types are; sliding gate, rotary, eccentric plug, multi-port valves, piston valves, angle valves, balanced plug cage valves.
This is followed by valve bonnets such as extension bonnets and bellows seal bonnets. Then we follow the characteristics of valves, the inherent flow characteristic, linear, quick opening and equal percentage types. Diaphragm actuators form the next topic followed by positioners and finally electro-hydraulic actuators. We also take a brief look at digital positioners, hand wheel actuation, solenoid valves and blowdown and shutdown valves.

Objectives
1) Select a valve for a particular application.
2) Select an actuation device suitable for a particular application.
3) Select the valve as ‘air fail’ open or close and so decide on the controller action for each type.
4) Describe the valve characteristics for each type of valve and select any type as suitable for a particular application.
5) Carry out a valve stroke test and calibrate a valve positioner
6) Describe the split-range valve arrangement and where it might be used.
7) Describe the operation of the two types of positioner and select the type to be used when given an application.
Who is this course for?
All those employed on process plant and plant workshops, technicians and supervisors. This will suit both instrument and mechanical technicians and electrical technicians wishing to upgrade their overall knowledge. Managers wishing to have their knowledge filled in due to a ‘need to know’ may also find this course useful.
